Robert Edward Bonsall, 86, of Woodlawn, Maryland, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026. He was born on December 11, 1939, to Robert Edward Bonsall Sr. and Helen May Sorrell Bonsall.
Robert proudly served his country in the United States Navy, a commitment that reflected his lifelong dedication to service. He continued that devotion at home as a lifetime member of the Woodlawn Volunteer Fire Department and later through a distinguished 20-year career with the Baltimore County Fire Department, from which he retired with pride.
Robert was the beloved husband of Gladys Bonsall, with whom he shared 34 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Together they enjoyed taking bus trips to casinos, spending time in their favorite place, Ocean City, Maryland, and simply enjoying each other’s company.
He was a father to Robbie Bonsall , Dee Wiley , and Donna, and a stepfather to Beth Albright, Tina Kemp, Joe Parrish, and the late Thomas Parrish Jr. He was a grandfather of six and a great-grandfather of eight, all of whom brought him immense joy.
Robert was known for his friendly nature and love of conversation. He especially enjoyed stopping by Monaghan’s to visit with friends, have a cold beer, and play Keno — moments that brought him happiness and connection.
Robert will be remembered for his service, loyalty, kindness, and the deep love he held for his family and friends. His legacy of dedication and community spirit will live on in all who knew him.
Services will be held at MacNabb Funeral Home on Saturday, January 31st, from 2:00–4:00 PM.
