Robert Andre “Bob” Bourgeois passed away on January 7, 2025, at 11:39 a.m. He was born in Baton Rouge on July 2, 1943, to Uri H Bourgeois and Andrea H Delaneuville. Bob graduated from Baton Rouge High School and earned both a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering and a MBA from Louisiana State University.
Early in his career he worked on the railroad following in his father’s footsteps where he developed a love for trains and worked his way through college. After graduating from LSU, he started his career at Blue Cross Blue Shield moving up the ranks to become Vice President of Marketing. Following his exit from Blue Cross he was Director of Business Development at Thibodeaux Regional Hospital, helping to grow the hospital significantly. After leaving the hospital he owned multiple businesses including a home health company, a crane company, and managed a kid-med clinic. In his final entrepreneurial endeavor, he owned and operated Sunbelt Business Brokers of Baton Rouge for the last 25 years growing it to multiple locations across the Gulf Coast, dominating the market until his death. His son Brandon joined him at the company over 13 years ago and will continue his legacy.
In his free time, Bob loved to spend time cruising the Tickfaw River and hanging out in Destin, FL. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity (FIJI), Le Cercle de Bacchus & American Advertising Federation of Baton Rouge.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He leaves behind to mourn his death, his wife Elva; his son Brandon (Brandie); grandchildren, Bankston and Adler; one sister, Beryl Browning; one sister-in-law, June Klute (Stan); and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives he cherished deeply that he recently found.
Visitation will be held at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy in Baton Rouge on Friday, January 31, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with a service to begin at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Cajun Navy Relief, Inc., P.O. Box 791632, New Orleans, LA 70179, or to the charity of your choice.
