Tessie Gore Philippe passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025. She was 83 years old. Tessie was born May 4, 1942, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Joseph B. Gore and Adista Fitch Gore. She was a graduate of Istrouma High School.

Tessie accepted a job with Baton Rouge General Hospital after school and worked alongside Sylvia Philippe. It was through this friendship that she met the love of her life, Henry Raymond Philippe. She always had a passion to help others, this was evident in her time spent as a preschool teacher at Broadmoor Presbyterian Church and later as an aide with special needs students. Her caring nature had an impact on countless children, including her own.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Robert Wayne “Rusty” Gore; her nephew, Paul Gore; and her King Cavalier Spaniel furbaby, Lady.

Tessie is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Henry; their daughter, Michelle Bass; their son, Eric J. Philippe and his wife Paula; and her beloved grandchildren who she constantly doted on including Joel Bass, Jr., Ryan J. Philippe and Jace L. White; and great-granddaughter, Kaia Rose Bass. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Sylvia Philippe Chauvin; as well as numerous other loving family and friends.

She and her husband were devout Catholics and attended St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville. Tessie was devoted, caring and always a little sassy!

A private service for family and friends will be held at her home.
