Robert F. Bovolick, 68, of Kingston, peacefully passed away in the presence of his loving family at his home Sunday, June 13, 2021.
Born Aug. 9, 1952, in Kingston, he was a son of the late John J. and Mary Rose Turel Bovolick. Bob was a 1971 graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School.
Bob was always a prominent part of the family business, Anthracite Newstand on Market Street, just off Public Square in Wilkes-Barre, since 1979, shortly after his marriage to the love of his life and partner, the former Bettye Lou Corcoran. Together and with their family, they operated the business daily. Bob was always greeting customers with his signature smile and constantly made people laugh with his jokes. He was known for his remarkable sense of humor and selfless personality. Bob touched many lives throughout the years, and many considered him a father figure. His tireless work ethic and self-taught skills in home repair and renovation led him on a new path to investment in and renovation of local real estate in more recent years.
His most precious times were those spent with his family. He was a diehard Alabama Crimson Tide fan and loved to play his Alabama cassette tape on family vacations when driving to and from Alabama and Florida. Bob served as assistant scout master for Troop 154 in Kingston for many years and often helped with Bettye Lou's Girl Scout activities.
His brother-in-law, David Bossard, preceded him in death on Feb. 24, 2021.
His wife, Bettye Lou; son, Bobby; daughter, Samantha; grandson, Robbie; sister-in-law, Ann Marie Bossard; brothers, John and his wife, Janet, California; and Richard and his wife, Frances, Texas; nieces, nephews and other family and friends will miss him immensely.
A celebration of Bob's life includes visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at McLaughlin's, 142 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre.
Graveside services in Mount Olivet Cemetery will be private.
Memorial donations to Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge will honor Bob's extensive love of animals.

Four years, since Bob has been gone. Death is never easy, when you lose someone close to you, especially a husband and a father. Each year that passes, should get easier, but you never forget. Betty Lou, Samantha, and Bobby Jr., you are in my thoughts, as the fourth anniversary of the passing of such a great man like Bob is here. Memories always last a lifetime. RIP Bob

I remember, Bob, and miss him a lot. When I stop into Anthracite, from time to time, later in the day. It doesn´t seem the same, without Bob standing in the front, behind the counter. I would always approach him, to but an item, and he always had a smile. He´d always say,"How you doin, Nadine, anything new?" Betty Lou, Bobby, and Samantha, you all are always in my prayers. It never gets easy. Bless you, all. Rest In Peace.

Bob was a great man, he would dedicate his time to feed the hungry at the soup kitchen. Bob would also give his money out to the needy without a second thought. Bob was also a great athlete winning several awards. Gone too soon , may he Rest In Peace
