Robert "Bob" LeRoy Bowman, age 85, of Sterling Heights, Michigan, went to be with his Lord on Monday, October 9, 2023, at his home with his wife, Linda, by his side.
Bob was born on July 29, 1938, in Franklin, Ohio, to the late William H. and Bertha (Shepherd) Bowman and graduated from Fairfield High School, Class of 1956. He then enlisted with the United States Air Force in 1956 and served his country until his Honorable Discharge in 1962.
Bob was Assistant Service Manager at DeVlieg Machine Tool Company for 25 years until its closing. He then continued his career at Comau and Cargill Detroit, when he had to take a medical retirement in 1997. Bob and Linda met on September 7, 1974, at the Machine Tool Show in Chicago, Illinois, not realizing that they both worked at DeVlieg in Royal Oak, Michigan. They went on to marry on October 8, 1977, at Sugar Springs Country Club in Gladwin, Michigan. They have been married for 46 years.
Bob and Linda shared their life together with daughters, Marie Rene (Louis) and Andree Michelle (Scott) (an instant family for Linda), enjoying their family cottage in Gladwin year around for 29 years while residing in Royal Oak, Michigan, eventually moving to Sterling Heights, Michigan. Bob was "Papa" to his grandchildren, Michael Christopher Dillaway, Nicholas James (Nikki) Dillaway, and Alec Robert Tsakiris, and great-grandchildren Kinsley Samantha, Brody Robert, Sawyer Jean and Declan Christopher. Bob is also survived by his step granddaughters, Lexi and Allison Tsakiris of Texas and many nieces and nephews.
Bob requested to be cremated with no fanfare. Memorials may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project at support.woundedwarriorproject.org.
