Dr. Robert "Bob" Brennan, of Saucon Valley, passed away Friday morning July 5 at the age of 89.

A longtime resident of Bethlehem, PA, Bob moved to Bethlehem from Hecksherville, PA to attend Moravian College, where he became captain of the baseball team. He enjoyed math and science and followed that passion to Temple University, graduating with honors from the School of Dentistry (1960). He married his childhood sweetheart, Bernadette Thermenos, and they moved to Jacksonville, NC (Camp Lejeune) where they started a family while Bob served in the US Navy Dental Corps.

Bob and Bernie returned to Bethlehem and opened the Robert E. Brennan, DDS dental practice on Johnston Drive. Bob built the private family practice and worked tirelessly, providing excellent care for so many families in Bethlehem.

Bob was an enthusiastic golfer and loved the outdoors. The family joined Northampton Country Club and then Saucon Valley C.C. where they developed life-long friendships. Bob became the Men's Senior Golf Club Champion and had six holes in one in his career.

Bob was especially fond of walking/hiking and admired the birds by pointing out each by sound and looks, and each type of tree by shape and leaves.

He was well known for his Irish looks, temperament, humor, and affection for friendship, golf, or a Yuengling.

Bob is survived by his wife Bernadette, daughter Dr. Pam, (Ray) Clarke, DMD of Pittsburgh, PA; son Dr. Robert (Heather) Brennan, DMD, of Bethlehem, PA; Cynthia Brennan, Esq. of Eagleville, PA; and Carolyn (John) Crew of Bethlehem, PA.

Bob has 6 Grandchildren - Christopher, Patrick and Ryan Clarke; Nicole Brennan; Maya Brennan; and James Crew. He was very proud and played an important role in his childrens' and grandchildrens' lives imparting tremendous values, sound practical advice, and wisdom (whether one wanted to hear it or not).

Bob and Bernie have lived in Lower Saucon for 28 years. Bob frequently walked the block and sat out front where he enjoyed meeting and chatting with the neighbors. One good friend and neighbor called him the "Lemanarchi" - Greek for overseer of the community.

Bob was an avid sports fan and enthusiastic about Philadelphia basketball, football, and hockey, but especially about his beloved Phillies listening to their games until he passed. He lived a fulfilling, rewarding life with no regrets raising his family, caring for others, golfing with friends, traveling, and enjoying nature. He left a great impression on those who were blessed to know him.

Services were privately held at Bob's request.
