Robert Brode Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Smith Funeral Home-Keyser Chapel on Nov. 25, 2025.
Robert M. Brode, 86, of Burke Hill Road, Rawlings, MD, died Sunday, November 23, 2025 at the Keyser Healthcare Center.
Born on May 28, 1939 in Lonaconing, MD, he was a son of the late Howard and Evelyn Mae (Moore) Brode. He also was preceded in death by four brothers, Howard "Bump," William, Allan and Johnny Brode.
Mr. Brode was a 1957 graduate of Valley High School in Lonaconing and was retired as a mechanic with the Westvaco Luke Mill.
A man of great character and classic tastes, Robert loved the simple things in life. His joy for stock car racing and attending car shows was infectious. His friends and family will remember the twinkle in his eye every time he spoke about his fascination with cars, a hobby that he meticulously pursued.
Besides his passion for cars, Robert had a knack for fixing things. His door was always open to anyone in need of help with lawnmowers or other equipment. He was known for his problem-solving skills, and his dedication to any project, large or small, was a testament to his tenacious spirit.
Despite his many hobbies, he was never too busy to lend a helping hand, always prioritizing the needs of others over his own. His kindness and generosity will not be forgotten.
Surviving is his wife of 62 years, Sadie J. (Meagher) Brode; two loving sons, Scott Brode and wife Vonda of Deland, FL and Todd Brode and wife Andrea of Rawlings; two loving and cherished grandchildren, Emily Hurt and husband Will and Adam Brode; a brother, Paul Brode of Lonaconing; a sister, Thelma Goebel of Beltsville, MD and many other extended family members and friends.
At Mr. Brode's request, there will be no visitation. A graveside service for all family and friends will be held on Friday, November 28, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser, with Joy Brode officiating.
The Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
