Robert Dean Brosmer, known affectionately as Bob to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2024, in
Granger, Indiana. Born on the Fourth of July in 1935, in
Pekin, Illinois, Bob's life was a vibrant celebration of the American spirit. His 88 years were marked by a deep commitment to his family and his faith.
Bob was the beloved husband of Beverly Brosmer, with whom he shared a life full of love and companionship. He was the cherished son of the late Robert E. Brosmer and Sophia L. Brosmer. His legacy continues through his daughters, Tracey (Dale) Culver of McCordsville, Susan Barrier of Mishawaka, and Janet Brosmer of South Bend. He was preceded in death by his daughter Kathy Coyer. Bob was a proud father to his son, Mike (Emily) Van De Voorde of Mishawaka. His grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and happiness, include George Clark of
Zionsville, Indiana, Natalie Clark of
Fallbrook, California, Alaina Clark of
Nashville, Tennessee, Christopher Schoen of
Evanston, Illinois, Matthew Schoen of South Bend, Savannah Barrier of Mishawaka, Abigail Barrier of Mishawaka, Taylor Guzzo of Plymouth, Ruthie Van De Voorde of Mishawaka, Allie Van De Voorde of Mishawaka. He was preceded in death by his grandchildren Sarah Coyer and Paula Guzzo.
Bob's early years were spent in the heartland of Illinois, where he developed a strong work ethic and a love for learning. He was also an infamous troublemaker, from secret plane trips to Chicago to hijacking trains, he and his gang were always up to something.
He graduated from Purdue University, where he laid the foundation for his future endeavors. His career in sales and marketing within the industrial sector was marked by his charismatic personality and his ability to connect with people. Bob's colleagues remember him as a man of integrity and dedication, qualities that served him well in both his professional and personal life.
Bob was very committed and involved with his church, Michiana Community Church of God where he loved congregational singing. Even towards the end, listening to hymns and other worship music brought him peace.
Outside of work, Bob was a man of diverse interests and talents. He had a sweet tooth and a fondness for green beans that won't soon be forgotten. His love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for duck and pheasant hunting. Bob was also an avid sailor, often found navigating the waters of Lake Michigan with the same skill and enthusiasm he brought to every aspect of his life.
Bob will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, a loyal friend, and a man who lived life to the fullest. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by the stories and laughter he shared, the wisdom he imparted, and the love he gave so freely.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m., July 1, 2024 at Palmer Funeral Homes – River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue,
South Bend, IN 46615 with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until time of services. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger. Memorial contributions may be made to Ray Bird Ministries, 25765 Edison Road,
