Robert L. ("Bob") Brown, MD of Boerne, TX passed away on March 19 at Methodist Hospital, San Antonio after a brief illness. The family is grateful to the Methodist Hospital MICU nursing staff and Kendall House Wellness & Rehabilitation staff for their compassionate and expert care.

Born in Kingston, PA, he was the son of the late Robert W. and Marjorie Evans Brown. His educational experience included Dallas High School, Magna Cum Laude graduate of Wilkes College, Milton S. Hershey Medical School of the Pennsylvania State University, Medical Internship and Residency at Rhode Island Hospital, and a Fellow in Infectious Diseases at Roger Williams Hospital and Brown University.

He returned to Wyoming Valley in 1977 to direct the Family Practice Residency Program in Kingston. He practiced medicine in the Wyoming Valley for over 25 years including roles as Infection Control Chairman and Director of Medical Education for Wyoming Valley Health Care System and served as director of various HIV clinics. He was recognized regionally and nationally as a spokesman and authority on AIDS research and education. He retired in 2005 and moved to Hilton Head Island, SC. He joined the Volunteers in Medicine Clinic team and devoted many hours to helping local residents for more than 12 years.

Bob was a skilled golfer who enjoyed playing golf with his children while they were growing up in Dallas, PA. He was an avid bridge player and proud of his ACBL Gold Life Master status. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughter Amy (George) Saenz Jr., son Ben (Heidi) Brown, his grandchildren Olivia, Alex, and Tyler Brown and Trey Saenz, his sister Shirley Breymeier, nephews Daniel and Matthew Breymeier and grandniece Bella Breymeier.

A celebration of life will be held on Hilton Head Island per Bob's wishes. He spent some of his happiest years there with family, friends, and the Volunteers in Medicine staff.
