Robert Brown Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by All Veterans Funeral & Cremation - Centennial on Jan. 15, 2026.
Robert S. Brown, lovingly known as "Bob," passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026, at The Ridge at Pinehurst in Lakewood, Colorado, at the age of 97.

Bob was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Myrtle and Samuel Brown. He spent his early years in Green River, Utah, before his family moved to Longmont, Colorado, along with his younger brother, William "Bill."

Bob attended Longmont Elementary School, where he met the love of his life, Margie Smith, in the fourth grade. After graduating from high school, he proudly joined the U.S. Army in 1946 as part of the occupation force in Japan following World War II. During his journey overseas on a troop ship, Bob developed a lifelong love of the sea-an interest that would later blossom into a passion for travel and cruising. His military service shaped his character, instilling discipline, responsibility, and a deep respect for doing things the "right way".

After returning home, Bob earned a Bachelor of Science in business with an accounting emphasis from the University of Colorado Boulder. While in school, he had the good fortune of picking Margie up while driving a taxicab-and soon afterward persuaded her to marry him.

Bob and Margie were married on June 9, 1950, beginning a remarkable love story that spanned 75 years of marriage. Together they raised two daughters, Kathy and Judy, who were the center of their lives. Bob and Margie were the epitome of commitment, partnership, and unconditional love.

Bob became a Certified Public Accountant and spent his career in Denver working in the oil and gas industry. He eventually became a partner and owner of the firm Lorette and Brown. Known for his integrity and attention to detail, Bob took great pride in his work. He was also a longtime member of Kiwanis and served as a trustee for several charitable foundations.

In retirement, Bob and Margie embraced their shared love of adventure. They traveled extensively, sailing on 56 cruises, riding trains, hiking throughout Europe, and making lasting memories with friends old and new. Bob also took up golf, approaching the game with determination-and a good sense of humor.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Margie; daughters Kathleen (Jon Cram) and Judith (Mike Vanatta); four grandchildren-Jayna (Jason Hand), Jake Cram (Laura), Katina Rogers (Ajay Roopchansingh), and Stephen Rogers (Genevieve); and seven great-grandchildren-Jesse, Anna, James, Elizabeth, Anika, Siva, and Evelyn. He was preceded in death by his brother, William.

Bob will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. His life was a gift, and his memory will forever bring a smile to those who were blessed to know and love him.

The Celebration of Life for Bob will take place on Sunday, Feb. 8 at 1:00 at the Ridge Pinehurst in the Community Room 7205 W. Quincy Avenue Lakewood, CO 80235
