Robert ("Bob") Grant Brunisholz

On Friday, September 15th, 2023, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Bob Brunisholz, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away from the effects of heart failure, peacefully surrounded by family at the age of 77.

Bob was born on June 29, 1946, at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, to Walter and Charlotte Brunisholz. He was the second of two children, following his older brother Al. While in grade school, Bob made a remarkable, full recovery from polio, which he attributed to the around-the-clock care from his mother.

This allowed Bob to continue to be active in sports, excelling in softball, football, soccer, track and field, and rugby throughout his life. He went to Olympus High School, lettering in track and field as a discus thrower, and graduated on May 28, 1964.

Shortly after graduating, Bob served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Central German Mission. As a lifelong member of the LDS church, Bob held callings on the High Counsel, High Priest Presidency, as the Stake Executive Secretary, and served the youth through sports & scout activities.

In 1975, Bob and Gail welcomed their first child, Ryan, into the world, and two years later added their daughter, Jeanette. Bob loved coaching Ryan's little league teams, and attending Jeanette's dance recitals, of course with flowers in hand for both Jeanette and her teacher.

He married Linda Brunisholz in 1997; added three stepchildren, David, Taylor, and Nicole Olson, and settled in Taylorsville, Utah for the final 27 years of his life. He loved taking his family to the cabin at Bear Lake to relax, play games, and enjoy the lake.

Bob had an exceptional work ethic, missing only 1 ½ days of work throughout his 35-year career at Ensign Wholesale Floral. He had a passion for horticulture, serving as a co-chair of the Utah Allied Florist Association, volunteering at Taylorsville's Millrace Park, and was recognized by the Salt Lake Tribune's Civic Beautification Program for exemplary landscaping at his Holladay home. Bob retired in 2003, and had many years of enjoying golf with friends, cruises with Linda, and time with grandchildren.

He was very clean, orderly, and quick to serve. You could often find Bob taking care of his yard, helping with household chores, or plowing the neighbor's driveway. He was extremely generous, and loved to give gifts to friends, family, and members of his community. Bob looked after his widowed mother for the last decade of her life, and maintained a sensitivity for the elderly, frequently going out of his way to ensure widows in his church received flowers on Valentine's Day.

Bob is survived by his wife Linda Brunisholz; brother Albert Brunisholz; children Ryan Brunisholz and Jeanette Brunisholz (Gail Sweeney); stepchildren David Olson (Cami), Taylor Olson (Kara), and Nicole Olson; grandchildren Kolden Brunisholz, Avery Olson, Mia Peterson, June Peterson, and Pace Peterson.

The Viewing will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral home, located at 4330 S Redwood Rd. Taylorsville, Utah.

A second Viewing will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. at the LDS Church Building (Morningside Ward) located at 1555 W Lovely Rd, Taylorsville, Utah, followed by a Funeral Service from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m., at the same location. All family, friends, ward members, neighbors, and associates are welcome.

Interment will ensue on Saturday, September 23, 2023, from 1:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Memorial Holladay Cemetery, located at 4900 S Memory Lane, Holladay, Utah, followed by a Family Luncheon at the Morningside Ward located at 1555 W Lovely Rd, Taylorsville, Utah.
