Robert J. "Bob" Burka

Robert J. "Bob" Burka Jr., 63, of Gloversville, New York, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2024, at his sister's home. Bob was born on April 15, 1961, in Beacon, New York to the late Robert J. Sr. and Charlotte Ann (Mayer) Burka.
Bob was united in marriage to Lisa M. Papula on May 24, 1986, with whom he has shared the past 38 years.
Bob was a dedicated Corrections Officer for 25 years, Retiring from the Hale Creek Correctional Facility in August of 2014.
Bob was an avid, year-round outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, ice fishing, hunting, and camping with his two sons. His passion and knowledge of muscle cars never went unnoticed and if there was a consignment auction, he was there! He loved to host gatherings at his camp and was the life of any party. Bob was well known for his sense of humor and had the ability to make anyone laugh, but most importantly he was known for his heart of gold. He was always available with a helping hand or a wise word whenever he knew it was needed.
He leaves behind his loving family, including his wife, Lisa M. Burka; his son, Andrew (Haley) Burka; his grandchildren, Vance, Everley, and Isla Burka; his siblings, William J. "Bill" Burka, Charlotte "Chickie" (Paul Edel) Burka, Frederick "Fred" (Kristina) Christmas, and Joey (Peter) Dakin; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Aside from his parents, Robert Sr. and Charlotte (Bunny), Bob was recently predeceased by his son, Robert E. "Bobby" Burka.
Relatives and friends are invited, and may call on Thursday, December 19, 2024, from 3:00PM until 6:00PM at the Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St, Gloversville. A service will follow the calling hours at 6:00PM, with the Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams Presiding.
