Robert E. Calloway Jr.

Robert E. Calloway Jr., 81, of Bonita Springs, Florida, passed away on January 9, 2026, at Joanne's House at Hope Hospice.

Bob was born on May 23, 1944, in Cincinnati, Ohio, a son of the late Robert E. Calloway Sr. and Evelyn Mary (née Franz) Calloway. Bob made Bonita Springs his home in 1998.

A graduate of Bethel High School in Bethel, Ohio, Class of 1962, Bob proudly enlisted in the United States Army. While stationed in Germany, he met the love of his life, Ingrid Weber, in 1963. They were married the following year on May 12, 1964, beginning a devoted marriage that spanned 61 years.

Bob's distinguished military career lasted 30 years with the United States Army. Upon retirement, he held the rank of Command Sergeant Major with the 3rd Infantry Division, stationed in Germany. In 1984, he was honored to be selected to attend the prestigious Sergeants Major Academy at Fort Bliss, Texas. Bob was a highly decorated soldier, among close to 40 medals and citations, he received the Legion of Merit for superior leadership at the highest levels, the Bronze Star for bravery and risking his life in combat to save fellow soldiers and his unit's artillery, and he earned the purple heart for sustaining injuries in Vietnam.

An avid outdoorsman, Bob loved hunting, fishing, hiking, golfing, and spending time in nature with his family and friends. He also enjoyed ski trips to Colorado, California and many locations across Europe.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Ingrid C. Calloway of Bonita Springs, FL; his son, Robert M. Calloway and his wife, Lisa, of Redington Beach, FL; his daughter, Patricia C. McRoy and her husband, Scott, of Abilene, TX; and four cherished grandchildren, Robert M. Calloway and Christiane Calloway, both of Austin, TX, and Michael McRoy and Matthew McRoy, both of Abilene, TX. He is also survived by his brother, Gary Calloway, and his sisters, Teresa Flynn, Joyce Calabrese, and Diana Roskelly.

Funeral services for Bob will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home, 28300 Tamiami Trail, Bonita Springs, FL. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:30 AM until the time of service. Burial services with full military honors will be held on Monday, January 26, 2026, at 12:30 PM at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
