Robert S. Carbone, 89, of the Fords section of Woodbridge Township, passed peacefully, on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Brighton Gardens of Edison. Born on January 24, 1936, he was raised in Jersey City, NJ, where he had resided for most of his life before his move to Fords in 2017. Robert proudly served his country in the US Air Force. He retired in 1990, from the U.S. Postal Service, as a Letter Carrier for 27 years, working out of the Secaucus branch. He was a member of the NALC Postal Union Branch #38, and a former member of the Retired Postal Workers of North Bergen. Robert was also a former member of the Wooden Nickel Club located in Union City, NJ. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Sandra Siegel Carbone, who died in 2013; his parents, Albert and Jane Carbone; and his stepson-in-law, Richard Rhodes. He leaves behind his beloved stepdaughter; Arlene Rhodes, of Fords; his two daughters, Christine Carbone and Janet Thomas and her husband, Mark; his grandchildren: Matthew (& Sarah) Rhodes and Stephen, Renee, Brooke, Tanya, Shelby, Blaire and Tess Thomas; his great-grandchildren: Archer Rhodes, Riley Jane Thomas, Charlotte Grace Thomas, Juliana Thomas, James Thomas, Sage Robin Thomas, Ember Daisy Thomas; and his sister, Beverly Carbone. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Flynn and Son/Mitruska Funeral Home Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave. Fords, NJ 08863. A prayer service will be at 7:30 pm followed by Air Force Military Honors at 8:00 pm. Cremation will follow privately. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Castle of Dreams Animal Rescue, 434 Cliffwood Ave. Cliffwood, NJ 07721.
