Robert S. Carmany, born on June 21, 1969, in Berlin, Germany, passed away on February 21, 2026, in
Greensboro, North Carolina, at the age of 56. His untimely passing was the result of a fall on ice earlier in the month.
Born in an American Army Hospital in West Berlin while his father was stationed there with the U.S. Army, Robert spent his early years in
Greensboro, North Carolina. He participated in the Air Force Junior ROTC program at Ben L. Smith High School, graduating in 1987. Following his graduation, Robert enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he served honorably in both the Panama Conflict and Operation Desert Storm.
Upon returning home, Robert met and married the love of his life, Christie, with whom he shared thirty-five wonderful years. Together, they raised four children and were blessed with three grandchildren.
Following in his father's footsteps, Robert dedicated eighteen years to the Greensboro Police Department as a patrol officer from 1997 to 2015. During his tenure, he was recognized by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) for his significant contributions to public safety through numerous DWI arrests. Most recently, Robert served as the Area Vice President for EKG Security, a firm dedicated to employing military veterans.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Christie Carmany; his children, Catherine Erin Kay Carmany Crandall (Justin) of Clarksville, Tennessee, Robert Scott Carmany, Jr, of the home, William Christopher Carmany (Renee) of Burlington, and Alexandria Marie Carmany of the home; and his cherished grandchildren, Olivia, Justin Jr., and Sabrina. He is also survived by his parents, Robert and Sandra Carmany of Greensboro, and his brothers, Mark Carmany of Smithfield and Michael Sean Carmany of Pleasant Garden.
A celebration of Robert's life will be held at two o'clock on Saturday, March 21st, 2025 at Triad Cremation & Funeral Service. In lieu of customary remembrances, please consider making a memorial contribution to the charity of the donor's choosing.
