Robert J. Chabot

Robert "Bob" J. Chabot, 71, of Shrewsbury and Wells, Maine, died Thursday, November 6, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Bob leaves his wife of 25 years, Elizabeth (Galvin) Chabot; three children, Brian Chabot and his wife Sharon, and their children Conor, Keira and Kayla; Stephen Chabot and his son Aidan and Aidan's mother Lauren Mello; and Cristin Chabot; three stepchildren, Sean Lawlor and his wife Sarah, and their children Liam, Will and Teagan; Erin Johnson; and Mallory Gibbons and her husband William R., and their children Willy, Welles and Winston. His brother Paul J. Chabot passed away in 2011.
Robert was born in Worcester on November 7, 1953, son of Paul O. and Kathleen (Preston) Chabot. He was a graduate of Doherty High School and Curry College in 2006 where he studied criminology.
Robert was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War.
Bob was a police officer for the Worcester Police Dept. for 42 years, retiring in 2018. He was the assistant administrator of the first Worcester Police Dept. computer system, where he wrote computer code for the police dept. He was also a crime scene analyst for 22 years. After his retirement from the WPD, he was a police officer for Becker College. He also worked police details in Shrewsbury and Westboro.
In his 20s, Bob worked for a year at the Vatican in Italy in the office of Papal Visits.
Bob enjoyed hiking and scuba diving. He and Elizabeth enjoyed spending time in Florida, North Carolina and Maine.
Bob's family wishes to thank his skilled and compassionate healthcare team including Dr. Kimberly Perez, Hannah McGoldric N.P., and Allison Hester.
The funeral Mass will be on Thursday, November 13, at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard's Church, 228 Lincoln St., Worcester. Burial in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon, will be private. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
The Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, is directing arrangements.
