Robert Dale Chapman, 89, of Centralia passed away March 20, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family and dog.
Chappy was born January 10, 1936, to the late Horace and Edna (Ketchum) Chapman in Benton City, Missouri. He graduated from San Lorenzo High School in Ashland, California. In 1989 he married Marilyn Lindsey. Bob was employed with the University of Missouri for over 30 years as a carpenter and painter.
A devoted husband, beloved father, cherished friend, and steadfast Christian has gone to his eternal home. A man of remarkable character, Robert cared deeply for his wife, showering her with unwavering love and devotion. His family and friends were the center of his world. Robert walked with Christ, embodying kindness and a servant's heart, always putting love first in his beliefs and values.
Robert, a man of many talents and joys. He was a skilled painter, bowler, handyman, bicyclist, master angler. In his leisure he appreciated gardening, watching sports, and doing puzzles with his wife – continuing traditions that brought him and his loved ones closer together. His warmth and presence touched countless lives, and his legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those he loved "to the moon and back."
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; children, Marlena Crowe, Lisa (James) Scroggins, Bobby Chapman, Becky (Ed) Porter, Ryan (Hermela) Chapman, Duane (Alisa) Bittle and Angie (Derek) Ketchum; 19 grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Chappy was also preceded in death by his 4 brothers, Fred, Ted, Kenneth and Phillip.
Family and friends will gather for a time of remembrance at Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel on Sunday, March 23, 2025, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 3 pm.
