Rollinsford - Robert F (Bob) Chase, 95, a resident of Rollinsford NH, passed away peacefully at his home, on Saturday, July 9, 2022.
Robert was born in Lynn Mass, the son of Edward and Hilda Chase. He was educated in the Lynn school system.
At 18, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army to fight in World War II. After basic training was sent to Europe where he bravely fought with the 102nd Infantry, engaging the enemy through France and into Germany. He earned a Bronze Star for bravery under fire. At the conclusion of the war, he spent several months at a rest camp in Berchtesgaden to recover from an injury. After the war, Bob remained in the service of his country, serving as an officer in the 101st Engineers Division as a Combat Engineer, and then as an officer in the Air Defense Command, responsible for protecting the US mainland from an air attack. Bob retired from the Army in 1969 as a Major.
After the war, Bob married Dorothy Travers of Boston and raised 4 children in Nahant, MA. After Dorothy's passing in 1969, Bob moved to North Hampton, NH, where he purchased a new home.
He had a successful business career, working in sales and sales management roles for several companies. In 1980, Bob founded the NH Clinic for Hypnosis, where he successfully helped people quit smoking using hypnosis and helped with the treatment of other habits and behaviors. He especially enjoyed performing his hypnosis stage shows, entertaining local schools, universities and charitable organizations.
Bob always enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed traveling, was a darn good woodworker, loved restoring antiques and collecting toys, He loved auctions and especially enjoyed his annual yard sale, which always turned into a big neighborhood event.
Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife Dorothy. His family members include sons Geary and his wife Linda of Brentwood NH, his son Gregg of North Hampton, NH his son Glenn and his wife Wendy of Rollinsford NH, His daughter Gayle Forte and her husband Daniel of Kennebunk ME and his daughter Amy Cornell and her husband David of Groton, CT. Bob had 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Funeral services with military honors are private. Interment will be in Swampscott Cemetery, Swampscott, MA. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Avenue, Dover, NH.
