Robert Cheney Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 20, 2026.
Cheney, Robert Patrick "Bob" September 15, 1953-February 16, 2026

Passed away at home with his wife and daughter at his side.

Bob was a 30+ year member of the Piston Poppers Control Line Model Aviation Club. After retirement, he enjoyed driving his late brother's 1948 Pontiac SilverStreak and attending car shows with his friends and family.

He enjoyed adventures with his daughter around Minnesota and out West in Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Eleanora; brother, David; sister-in-law, Marilyn; best friend, Jeff Lange; and beloved dogs, Cocoa Puff, Ginger Snap, and Camey.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Debra; daughter, Carey (John Schweitzer) of Apple Valley; brother, Michael (Debra) of Brooklyn Center; and sister, Colleen (Kevin) Raasch of Hastings; along with many other loving friends and family.

Yesterday

I had the privilege of working alongside Bob for five years, and in that time I came to know not just a colleague, but a genuinely kind and devoted man. No matter how busy the day, he would always find a moment to share stories about the people and things he loved most - especially his daughter and his wife, who were clearly the center of his world. He often spoke fondly of his late dogs, remembering them with a warmth that showed just how deeply he cared. And of course, there were the enthusiastic updates about his brother“s car, told with that unmistakable spark in his eye.

He even spent time making my mother a card when my father suddenly died, it was very sweet of him. He was a great support system during a terrible time.

Bob brought heart and humanity into the workplace. He reminded us that what matters most is the love we carry for our families and the stories we share about them. Though he had far too little time to enjoy his retirement, I truly hope those days were filled with the same love, laughter, and pride he so often spoke about. He deserved that time surrounded by the people and memories he cherished most.

My thoughts are with his family during this difficult time. He will be truly missed.

With love, Casey from Bloomington Acura Subaru
