Robert T. Childs
Robert T. Childs, age 83, of Easley, passed away on August 20, 2025.
He was born on October 28, 1941, to Leroy and Alder Bearden Childs. Robert worked as a supervisor for Southern Weaving, for Sloan Construction, and as a truck driver for Duncan Motor Lines.
Robert enjoyed simple pleasures that reflected his character. He had a passion for gunsmithing and could often be found on his front porch, pocketknife in hand, whittling as he shared stories with family and friends. He also loved playing his guitar and singing along with his wife and Jerry and Nancy Bowen. His kindness, humor, and generosity touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Robert was a long-time member of Hejaz Shriner Greenville, SC.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Childs; his children, Brad Childs, Robyn Childs Benton, and Kevin Childs; eleven grandchildren; and twenty-six great-grandchildren.
Robert was predeceased by his parents; his infant daughter, Sonya Childs; his brothers, Leroy Childs, Jesse Childs, and Devoe Childs; and sisters, Pat Poteet and Betty Kersey.
The family will hold a celebration of life service at a later date.
