Robert Max Claycamp, age 78, of Seymour, passed away on Thursday evening, September 12, 2024, at his farm.
Mr. Claycamp had a strong faith, and he was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Borchers.
Bob graduated from Cortland High School in 1964. He worked for C.J. Rust Construction Co. for four years before transitioning to a career as a self-employed dairy farmer. On October 27, 1965, he enlisted in the Indiana National Guard and underwent training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and Fort Ord, California. He was honorably discharged on October 26, 1971.
Bob was deeply loved by his wife, Linda, as well as his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He cherished every moment spent with his family and took great joy in his grandchildren's daily visits. Bob's greatest joy in life was milking his cows. He also had a passion for bulldozing and loved sharing stories while teaching his grandchildren about the past days of farming using antique equipment.
Born on May 15, 1946, in Seymour, Bob was the son of Wilbur and Selma (Peters) Claycamp, both of whom preceded him in death. On January 23, 1966, Bob married his high school sweetheart, Linda Ratcliff, at the home of Linda's parents in Cortland, and she survives in Seymour.
Bob and Linda were blessed with three children, who include: one son, Jonathan (Amy) Claycamp of Seymour; two daughters: Melissa (Steve) Christian of Seymour, and Dana (Bryan) Layton of Seymour; grandchildren: Heather (Zach) Morris, Erin Nolen, Jacoby Begley, Marshall Claycamp, Isaiah Luenebrink, Max Claycamp, Jaden Begley, Jacob Layton, Merissa Claycamp, Alyza Luenebrink, and Miller Claycamp; great-grandchildren: Lexi Morris, Lizzie Morris, Emily Morris, Emelia Gray, Cainan Nolen, Decker Nolen, and Merritt Nolen; three brothers: Gilbert (Linda) Claycamp, Paul (Cindy) Claycamp, and George (Rhonda) Claycamp; and two sisters: Lucille (Odon) Angel, and Delores (Roger) Douglass.
Besides his parents, Bob was also preceded in death by one brother at birth, Norman Claycamp.
