Robert W. Clifford Sr., a beloved figure in the Columbus community, passed away peacefully at home on July 3, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on December 17, 1940, in Columbus, Ohio, Robert lived a life rich with family, work, and passion.
Robert dedicated many years to Igel Construction, where his commitment and hard work earned him the position of superintendent. He proudly worked alongside his son, Bob Jr., forging a bond that was as strong as the structures they built together. The Igel family became more than just colleagues to Robert; they were an integral part of his life, with whom he shared stories and memories that would last a lifetime.
Robert was known for his ornery spirit, often playfully described as "rotten." He had a unique knack for giving each of the kids in his family special nicknames, a reflection of the love and affection he held for them. He would do anything for his children, and this unwavering dedication defined his role as a father. Robert’s passion for life extended beyond his work; he loved hunting, watching football, and enjoying a drink in his garage while surrounded by family, creating an atmosphere filled with laughter and camaraderie.
His proudest accomplishments included keeping two family homes strong and thriving for over 100 years, a testament to his dedication to preserving family legacy. He also cherished the spirited arguments while watching football games, where his passion for the game would ignite fun debates among family and friends.
Robert leaves behind a loving family who will forever hold onto the memories he created. He is survived by his daughter, Patty Ginther; son, Carey Clifford; daughter-in-law, Barb Clifford; grandchildren Brittanie, Brent, Nick, and Joshua "Juice" Clifford; great-grandchildren Killian and Alistar Clifford; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
He joins in eternal rest with his beloved son, Bob Clifford Jr; grandson, Danny Lee Ginther; brother, Michael Clifford; and parents, Patrick and Wanita Clifford.
As we remember Robert W. Clifford Sr., we celebrate a life that embodied love, laughter, and a commitment to family. His spirit will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of all who knew him, a constant reminder of the warmth he brought to our lives. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 14, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest, in Grove City, Ohio, where all will have the opportunity to honor his remarkable journey.
