Virginia E. Clifford "Ginny" (nee Wright), age 98 of Deptford (formerly of Parsippany, NJ) passed peacefully at home with her family by her side on Monday, October 6, 2025. She was born in Paterson, NJ to the late William J. Wright and Elizabeth M. (Eberwein). Virginia enjoyed a working career spanning from 1943 through 2015, she started in the office of A & P Tea Co., was a comptometer operator at Konnor's Department Store Co., then worked for 25 years at ADP, eventually becoming a supervisor of the Tele Data department. After retiring from ADP, she worked in the human resources department of Catholic Family and Community Services in Paterson for 25 years.
Virginia enjoyed many activities over the years, roller skating, bowling, traveling, and going to the casinos, but she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She was also a member of the Tacoma Club and Deptford Golden Age Club.
Wife of the late William J. Clifford and John F. Delaney, she is survived by her children, Virginia M. Delaney and John E. Delaney; granddaughter, Danielle (Eric) Harkins; great grandchildren, Ava V. Harkins and Brendan S. Harkins; brother, Raymond (Nancy) Wright; and several nephews and nieces as well as great nephews and nieces.
Predeceased by her grandson, David J. Delaney; daughter-in-law, Ellen Delaney; brothers and sisters-in-law, William (Ann) Wright; Edward (Delores) Wright, and Joseph (Eleanor) Wright.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street Mantua, NJ. Memorial service will be held at 6:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to St. Jude’s.
Final disposition to be at a later date in North Jersey.
