Robert D. Clinger, age 89 of Powell, passed away on Saturday April 13, 2024 at the Sunrise of
Dublin. He was preceded in death by parents Robert H. and Virginia Clinger, stepfather Robert
Koch, former wife Elizabeth (Slagle) Fornshell, and wife Ann Darcey Clinger. He is survived by sister
Janet Clinger of
Grass Valley, CA, sons David, Scott and Randy of Columbus; daughter Melanie
(Clinger) McMichael of Montgomery Village, MD; stepdaughters Kathryn McClure and Patricia
Stephens; grandsons Cole Clinger, Curtis Clinger, Joseph Clinger, Andrew McMichael, Stephen
Talbot, Stewart, Matthew and Justin Stephens; granddaughters Shelby Haworth, Elizabeth Clinger
Strickland, Ellie McMichael; and great-grandchildren Dylan Scott Clinger, Aaliyah Strickland and
Spencer Clinger. Robert was born in
Findlay, OH, graduated from Findlay High School in 1952, and
earned a BS in Journalism from Ohio University in 1956. Following service in the U.S. Air Force as a
navigator/bombardier from 1956 to 1959, he spent nine years with the Public Relations Department
of Columbia Gas and 28 years with the staff of the Ohio State Medical Association. Following
retirement from OSMA in 1996 he worked part-time until 2007 with the Ohio Physicians Health
Program in Columbus. From 1999-2009 and 2012-2014, he served as consumer representative on
the Board of Ohio KePRO, the advocacy program for Medicare recipients in Ohio. He played senior
softball for many years in Worthington, served as a volunteer in the Continuing Medical Education
Department at OhioHealth/Riverside Methodist Hospital for 23 years. He loved following
grandchildren in sports and other activities. Family will receive friends from on Saturday June 15,
2024 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the Rutherford Corbin Funeral Home in Worthington where a
Celebration of Robert's Life will take place at 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions to any of the
