Robert Cohoon Obituary
February 12, 1944 - January 6, 2026
Robert "Bob" Lloyd Cohoon, age 81, of Mattoon passed away on January 6, 2026 at the Odd Fellow Rebekah Home.
Funeral services honoring his life will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 9, 2026 at Schilling Funeral Home with Pastor Brad Brown officiating. Burial with Military Rites will follow at Dodge Grove Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 a.m. to the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
Bob was born on February 12, 1944 in Coles County, Illinois, the son of Sherman and Dorothy (Hopper) Cohoon. He married Diana Behl on October 15, 1993.
Survivors include his loving wife, Diana Cohoon; son, Rick Cohoon; daughter, Shanda Cohoon; brother, Fred Cohoon; stepdaughters, Tammy Jordan, Lori Lucier and Gina Huckstead; grandchildren, Tyler Jordan, Brandon Cutright, Blake Cutright, Justin Morrow, Megan Morrow, Desiree Darnell, Shelby Grissom-Coffey, Mallory Kuhns, and Madeline Cohoon.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Patricia Starwalt; stepson, Greg Grissom; and granddaughters, Aimee Jordan and Brooke Jordan.
Bob served honorably and proudly in the United States Army. He worked at the water department for the city of Charleston and later worked at Masterbrand Cabinets where he retired from after several years of service. Bob was a member of the Mattoon Family Worship Center. He enjoyed riding his scooter, carpentry and building, and was an avid Bears football fan. Bob enjoyed traveling with Diana and spending time with friends at Limetree Park in Florida. Most of all, Bob cherished spending time with his family, and especially enjoyed attending the activities of his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
