Robert Collar Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Clawson on Oct. 12, 2024.
Robert Franklin Collar of Berkley, Michigan died October 10, 2024. He was 94 years old. Robert was born on January 1, 1930 in LaPorte, Indiana to parents Margaret and Commodore Collar.
Robert proudly served in the United States Army. He served during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany.
Robert earned an Associate's Degree in Arts, and a Bachelors of Business Administration. He went on to work as an appraiser for the city of Southfield for many years before retirement.
Robert was remembered as a loving, kind, and generous person. A life long learner, he loved to have deep conversations with others. He enjoyed writing letters to ("harassing") his fellow congressmen that shared his thoughts and opinions of how things could be improved.
As a competitive ballroom dancer, Robert also had a love for dancing, and enjoyed spending time with his dance group family. In his free time, Robert took joy in stamp collecting, and loved classic comedy movies.
Robert was a loving single father, raising his two sons with great pride, and was a dear friend to many. Robert was deeply loved and will be sorely missed all who had him in their lives, including his sons, Jonathan (Kelly) and Mark (Cathy) Collar, and his grandchildren, Jonathan, Madelynn, Mark, and Allison.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Alice Sager.
A Memorial Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home 1368 N. Crooks Road, Clawson, Michigan 48017 on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at 7pm. Friends may visit beginning at 5pm.
