Robert D Conkel passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on February 21, 2025, at the age of 80. He was born on November 17, 1944, to Robert and Evelyn (Anderson) Conkel in Lima, Ohio.
Robert grew up in Lima, Ohio until he graduated high school where he joined the US Air Force. After leaving the Air Force he attended The University of Texas. On November 12, 1972, he married his true love MaryAnn (Midgley) Conkel where they enjoyed 52 years of marriage.
Robert worked for the US Postal Service for 34 years. After retiring he volunteered with St. Richard's Episcopal Church Brotherhood, while enjoying church cook offs, assisting with the Annual Pumpkin Patch, ushering at services, and assisting with Vacation Bible School. He was a HUGE fan and supporter of Pete Rose as well as an avid Ohio State fan. Robert also enjoyed bi-weekly Pinochle games, bowling, a good glass of scotch and great cigars. One of his greatest joys was playing with his three grandchildren and he was his daughter's biggest fan and supporter.
Robert is survived by his wife MaryAnn (Midgley) Conkel, three daughters and their spouses; Kristine (Conkel) McPhail and Stuart, Megan (Conkel) Mason and Scott, and Ashlee (Conkel) French and Ryan. He is also survived by his ultimate joy, three grandchildren: Alana McPhail and Rady and Kormick Mason. He is survived by his sister and family; Mary (Conkel) Sterling and Art and nephew Michael Sterling.
Services will be on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 11:00 am at St. Richard's Episcopal Church located at 1420 E. Palm Valley Blvd., Round Rock, TX 78664. The family will begin receiving visitors at 10:30 am.
