Robert “Bob” Connor was called away on September 8, 2025, in Columbus, Ohio, after a health battle that he faced with strength and stubbornness. Bob was born May 1934 to the union of Silas Connor and Pearlie Whitt of Uniontown, Alabama. Bob was a graduate of Mobile Central High School.

He was preceded in death by wife Patricia Connor; parents Silas and Pearlie Connor; brother Silas Connor; sister Laura Nelson . He leaves to cherish his memory, daughter Valerie Coleman; granddaughter Natalie Coleman, son Norman "Clift" (Shirri) Connor; grandson Chase Connor; and sister-in-law Carrie (Bobby) Britford. Also left to cherish his memory is brother Norman (Ruth) Conner; special nieces Desiree (Rion) Robinson, Sonja (Sebastien) Lees-Ampiah; special nephews Eziekial (Tina) Sanders and Robert “Poochie” Sanders; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members. The family would like to recognize his special friends Reverend AC and Rose Allen, Craig Allen, Chuck Tandy, Emma Gregory, Mary Robinson, and John Bankston.

Bob Connor enlisted into the US Air Force in July 1951. He served at Ramey AFB in Puerto Rico and also Francis E. Warren AFB, in Cheyenne, WY. He was honorably discharged in July 1955. After a short stay in San Diego, California, he decided to re-enlist, but into the US Army. Bob entered the US Army in October, 1957. He trained at the United States Army Southeastern Signal School at Fort Gordon, Georgia. He was assigned to Darmstadt, Germany, Army 38th Artillery, 2nd GUN Bn. Bob was honorably discharged in July 1960.

After his military service, Bob moved back to Mobile, Alabama where he met a young Patricia Wiggins. They were married in June 1961. While Pat was pregnant with their first child Valerie, in 1963, he accepted a transfer to the Defense Supply Center in Columbus. Bob later accepted a position with the Columbus Water Department where he later would retire.

Bob and Pat Connor were married for 59 years. He faithfully and lovingly cared for his wife until her passing in November 2020. Together they built a home that was loving and welcoming to many. Bob loved to learn new life skills. Whether it was working on the car, putting in a light fixture, basic carpentry, and plumbing. If there was a job to do, he had a tool for it. He enjoyed helping others.

His other passion was sharing stories about his life. He always had a stories about his childhood and growing up. Stories about being in the military. Or stories about family, friends and people he had encountered in his 91 years. He never met a stranger when it came to sharing stories. Especially when it came to old Western movie serials and many other Western movies. His favorite was Shane.

No matter what you called him, Bob, Dad, Papa, or Uncle Bob, he enjoyed being there for people. Whether to lend an ear, a helping hand, or a toy he found at Target for the kids. It was all about being there when he was needed. It gave him joy and his family loved him because of that.
