Mr. Robert “Bob” Merle Cooley, 70, beloved husband of Dianne, entered into rest on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at MCG WellStar Hospital.
The family invites friends for a visitation on Friday afternoon, December 13, 2024 from 3:00 until 5:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, in the chapel of Platts Funeral Home, Belair Road Chapel, with the Rev. Steve Pittman officiating. The burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.
Bob was born in 1954 in Waterloo, Iowa to Earl and Helen Cooley. He attended the University of Iowa, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering. After graduation, he started a career with John Deere manufacturing Company. A job transfer led him to Georgia, and he retired with John Deere after almost 40 years of service. He attended New Horizon Church of God.
In addition to his wife, Dianne, he is survived by his sons, Jairo Lopez, Elijah Lopez, Matt Corley and Charlie Corley, his grandchildren, Aiden, Hunter, Gavin, Tate and Isaiah and his sisters, Karen Boller (Rick) and Pammy DeBlois. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Helen, his brother, Edward and his sister Beverly.
Pallbearers will be Bartley Portwood, James Dekker, Matthew Corley, Charlie Corley, Jairo Lopez and David Sullivan. Honorary pallbearers are Paul Mallon and Terry Godbee.
