Robert Crowther Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 23, 2026.
Robert Grant Crowther, affectionately known by friends and family as Bob, enjoyed all the many people he met and called his friends. Born on January 5, 1931, in Sanford, Colorado, Bob enjoyed working on his farm and being around his family. He drew his last breath at the Alamosa Hospital on January 20, 2026.

Bob's journey began as the son of the late William Alma Crowther and Marcella Adelaide Christensen Crowther. His path was marked by devotion and commitment, illustrated when he married his sweetheart, Mary Lou Reynolds, in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on October 13, 1950. They enjoyed their time together until she preceded him in death in February 2000. Bob years later married Cleo Brown, who survives him in Parowan, Utah.

Bob's legacy is the lives he shaped and cherished as the proud father of Robert Elliot (Kathy) Crowther, Warren David (Kathy) Crowther, Carl Grant Crowther, Kent Steven (Tamera) Crowther, William Brian (Valerie) Crowther, Lisa Annette Sandos, and Jonathon Alan Crowther. He also leaves behind a sister, Janette Black of Springville, UT, thirty grandchildren, sixty-four great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Bob also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family to share in the stories of his warm-hearted deeds.

Though now apart, Bob has joined those who went before him, including his beloved parents, his son Jonathan, and the tender young souls of great-grandchildren Maverick Mitchell and Oliver Jensen, and the great-great grand twins, Brodey and Lucas Durham, as well as his brother and six sisters.

Bob's life was marked by achievement and service. As a Valedictorian he attended Colorado State University for a year, before being summoned back to the farm by his father to help with the work there. They started Crowther Dairy, processing the milk and started a home delivery business. He enjoyed all the people he met delivering the milk to and formed many friendships that lasted his lifetime. The home delivery lasted till the early 1970's and dairy business lasted till year 2023. He also worked as a mail carrier at the Post Office in Sanford.

His passion for service extended beyond his professional life. He served many terms as a school board member and took pride in the community and school. A devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bob served his community and his faith continually. His callings ranged from a compassionate Bishop to dutifully serving two church missions-one in Africa and one in Tallahassee, Florida. He also devoted time to performing temple work in the Denver and Albuquerque temples.

Bob never missed an opportunity to celebrate his love for sports, starting as a proud member of the first Sanford basketball team to win a state championship. He loved following and supporting his children in their school sports and activities.

He had a great love for music and especially enjoyed singing alongside his sister Janette. It was echoed through the years as he sang at countless events, capped off with singing a song or two at the Friday Night evening of music at the Bridge, where he spent the last couple of years of his life. All who encountered Bob were greeted with his signature smile, a symbol of the loving, faith-filled, and gentle soul he was.

A Visitation will be held Monday, January 26, 2026 from 9:45-10:45 am, followed by a Funeral Service 11am at the Sanford Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Interment will follow services in the Sanford Cemetery.
