Obituary of Robert D. Currie:
Robert D. Currie, son of Glenn H. Currie and Marcile E. (Thomas) Currie was born May 8, 1943 at Concordia, Kansas and passed away on January 10, 2024 at Goodland Regional Medical Center, Goodland, Kansas at the age of 80.
Robert attended Scandia public schools and graduated from Scandia High School. He served with the U.S. Air force. He was united in marriage to Charlotte Nickerson on October 19, 1974 and to this union two children were born, Paige and Thomas. He was employed by the Republic County Highway Department and the Kansas State Highway department for many years.
He was a member of the VFW in Goodland, KS, Scandia American Legion. United Methodist Church, Scandia, KS, Kansas Fur Harvesters Hall of Fame.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Marcile Currie, wife, Charlotte Currie, one sister, JoAnn Gutscher, one brother, James Currie.
He is survived by one son, Thomas (Mariela) Currie of Lenexa, KS, one daughter, Paige (Emmet) Rudolph of Goodland, KS, four grandchildren, Courtney (David), Keaton, Kerrigan, Fabi, one sister, Cheryl (Butch) Loring, of Scandia, KS, sister in law, DeeAnna Currie of Topeka, KS, sister in law, Betty Nickerson of Scandia, KS, sister and brother in law, Duane and Carolyn Nickerson of Omaha, NE., nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends
Celebration of Life services will be held 10:30 AM, Saturday, January 20, 2024, Bachelor-Surber Memorial Chapel, Belleville, KS, conducted by Pastor Kathy Aeillo.
Private family inurnment will be held at Union Valley Cemetery, rural Belleville, KS at a later date.
Memorials may be given to the Robert D. Currie Memorial Fund.
Friends may sign the register book on Friday, January 19, 2024, from 1 PM to 6 PM at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, KS, where the family will greet friends from 5 PM to 6 PM.
