KEOTA-Robert D. “Bob” Wide, age 80, of Keota, died Friday, May 26, 2023, at Washington County Hospital in Washington.
Bob was born August 10, 1942, in Iowa City, to Leo and Florence (Noll) Wide. He grew up in the Beacon area, moved to Keota in 8th grade and graduated from Keota High School in 1961. On June 10, 1961, he married Janice Harris in Keota. Bob farmed and worked as an auto technician at Perdock’s in Washington for 45 years, retiring in 2007. He was a member of the United Church of Faith and enjoyed working on cars and digging in the dirt.
Survivors include his wife: Janice of Keota; three sons: Jim Wide of Keota, Tom (Connie) Wide of Washington and Dan Wide of Ainsworth; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Per Bob’s wishes, he will be cremated and a graveside service will be held at a later date at Garrett Cemetery near Delta. There will be a Celebration of Life at Bob and Janice’s home from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2023.
A memorial fund has been established for Ss. Peter & Paul Church or the Keota Museum and may be sent to Powell Funeral Home, P.O. Box 48, Keota, IA 52248. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is caring for Bob and his family. Tributes may be made at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
