Mr. Robert Davis 72, of Rocky Mount, North Carolina transitioned on July 12, 2024.
Robert Lee Thomas Davis peacefully departed this life early Friday morning, July 12, 2024, at his home. Robert quietly slipped away to his heavenly home. Robert's journey in life began on September 21, 1951. He was born to the late Arthur Lee Davis and the late Theaster Hayes Davis in Lumberton, North Carolina. He was also preceded in death, his brother, Arthur Lee Davis, Jr.
Robert's love for God was very evident as he received Christ in his life at an early age. Robert was raised in the Catholic Church but served faithfully at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church for many years with his wife, son, and family.
He attended Robeson County Public Schools. After graduating high school, Robert furthered his education at Robeson Community College, where he earned an Associate Degree in Business Administration, attended Electronic Computer Programming Institute (ECPI), where he earned an Associate Degree in Computer Technology. He used his skills and expertise to work in multiple capacities, Newport News Shipyard as a welding mechanic, building US Navy ships and becoming a Quality Engineer at Consolidated Diesel Company (CDC) for twenty years, traveling extensively domestically and internationally.
Robert was an advocate for his community and the City of Rocky Mount. He served on the Board of Adjustment and the Planning Board. He also served as the President of the Meadowbrook Community Improvement Association and served as the President of the Steering Committee with the North Carolina Association of Community Development Corporation. He was a strong supporter of Shaw University and rendered his service.
Robert celebrated a beautiful marriage with his love Gloria Fenner Davis for forty-eight years. To this union one son was born, Alifea Davis. Robert leaves to mourn his wife, Gloria Fenner Davis, of the home; his son, Alifea Davis (Angela), of Rodeo, California; two grandchildren: Azaria Cozart-Davis and Ammon Davis both of Rodeo, California. He also leaves behind his sister, Jacqueline Davis, of Lumberton, NC, three sisters-in- law, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
In Robert's demise, if you were to ask him, "How are you?" His reply would be loud and clear, FABULOUS!
A Visitation will be held for Mr. Davis on Saturday, July 20, 2024 from 12:00 m to 1:00 pm at Ebenezer Baptist Church located at 702 W. Raleigh Blvd. in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Funeral services will follow the visitation beginning at 1:00 pm. The interment will take place in the Gardens of Gethsemane in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
