Robert L. "Bobby" Deck, 66, of Hutchinson, died August 2, 2025, at Hospice House. He was born December 17, 1958, in Liberal, Kansas, to Earl and Margaret (Ebeling) Deck. On April 9, 1988, Bobby married Thaylia Cline at Zion Lutheran Church. They shared 37 beautiful years of marriage before his death. Bobby graduated from Stockton High School in Missouri and attended vocational welding school. After he was certified, Bobby worked as a welder in many places and spent over 22 years working for Dan Dee Air. He possessed a natural talent for working with his hands and had a passion for creating and restoring things. Bobby was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge #453, in Hutchinson. Bobby had a love for spending time in the solitude of fishing. Also, he loved auto racing and spent time traveling to go to NASCAR events and the Indianapolis 500. Bobby had an undeniable gift for grilling and smoking meats. He fabricated his own meat smoker, expertly welded components together to make "Big Blue," which he used to smoked various types of meat for family and friends. Bobby is survived by: his beloved wife, Thaylia Deck of Hutchinson; sister, Carol (Lowell) Mellenbruch of Hutchinson; brother, Keith (Allen) Deck of Wichita; step-mother, Mary Fern Taylor of Stockton, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents; sisters, Carla Sue Wright and Patricia "Patty" Deck. Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2025 at Zion Lutheran Church, 1017 N. Washington St. Hutchinson, KS. Family to receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Zion Lutheran Church. Friends may sign his book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily at Elliott Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Zion Lutheran Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501 or the Bobby Deck Memorial Fund, to benefit the Bobby Deck Memorial Fund, please make the check payable to Elliott Mortuary.
