Robert DeLorenzo, 87, of South Hempstead, New York, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Robert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Known affectionately as "Pop" or "Poppa," he was loved for his humor, warmth, and endless generosity. He always put others before himself and could make anyone smile with his quick wit and kind heart.
After proudly serving four years in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany, Robert went on to have a long and dedicated career as a technician with Verizon for 30+ years, retiring in 1999. Outside of work, he found joy in simple pleasures – baking his famous banana bread for his famous granddaughter Laura, whipping up brownies, cooking meals for his family and watching Fox News and true crime documentaries. His greatest passion, however, was his family – especially his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, and his loyal dog, DeeDee.
Robert is survived by his devoted wife, Anne DeLorenzo; his children, Robert DeLorenzo and his wife Kristine DeLorenzo and Linda Sultan (DeLorenzo) and the late Stanley Sultan. He is also survived by his siblings Vera, Augie, and Walter, along with many nieces, nephew and friends who loved him dearly.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the wake on Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 3:00pm to 8:00pm at Macken Mortuary in Rockville Centre, NY. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 11:00am at St. Agnes Cathedral in Rockville Centre, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert's memory to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation – an organization close to his heart that honors and supports our nations heroes.
Robert "Poppa" DeLorenzo will be remembered for his big heart, sharp wit, and unwavering love for his family. His memory will live on in the laughter, love, and stories shared by all who were blessed to know him.
