Robert Elmer DeRose

Robert Elmer DeRose, 82, passed away peacefully at home on December 19, 2025. Robert was born on January 24, 1943, to the late Angelo (Skippy) and Chancie DeRose. He was originally from Bloomfield and Nutley, eventually settling in Cedar Grove, where he owned and operated Bob's Barber Shop for over 50 years. Bob was a hard worker, and dedicated member and supporter of the community, working in his shop until his late 70s. He enjoyed all sports and continued to sponsor and coach many athletic teams in Cedar Grove, throughout the years. Above all he was a devoted family man.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Rosie (Charles) DeRose, daughter, Dawn Marie (Lola), grandchildren, Matthew Robert (Vanessa Solimar Galarza), Michael Christopher (Laurel Carmella Maus), Walter (Amanda), and Patrick (Anna). He was preceded in death his brother Anthony, as well as by his son Robert Michael (Jane).
Relatives and friends will be received at the S.W. Brown and Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St. Nutley, NJ on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, from 4-8pm.
A Mass of Catholic Burial will be held at Saint Thomas the Apostle, Bloomfield on Friday, December 26, 2025, at 10am. Interment will immediately follow services at Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield.
The family would like to thank the team at Holy Redemer Hospice, especially daughter in law, Lola, who provided his ongoing care.
