Robert T. Dewey died suddenly and on his own terms, on January 1, 2026. He was 78.

Bob grew up in Taunton and was a successful athlete at his high school, winning a state championship for his track team. He has lived in Middleboro for over 30 years, but his career took him back to his roots, teaching 7th grade social studies for Taunton Public Schools for over 25 years. Upon retiring Bob found his passion for farming and was known for his gardens. His days started early, and he was dedicated to caring for his home and land. His appreciation for nature was profound. Throughout the years Bob found ways to give back, taking in people trying to get back on their feet, mentoring and being generous with his time and money, while never wanting recognition for it. He also had a love of animals, pets and all of mother nature's creatures. He will be remembered for his intelligence, sense of humor and devotion to those he loved. He will be deeply missed.

Beloved husband of 23 years to Melody (Matalon) Dewey of Middleboro. Devoted father of Jennifer Dewey of North Attleboro and Lori DeStefano of Pocasset. Bob was also blessed with friends that became family including Paul Rodrick, Dr. James Callahan, Patrick Sweeney and Adam Crogan.

At Bob's request, there will be no services. Donations in Bob's memory can be made to the MSPCA, American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
