I was very sad to learn of the death of Dr. Robert Dibble who besides being a beloved and stellar physician, was just a great person. He was especially important to me as a mentor and general supporter. Dr. Dibble, though trained as a gastroenterologist, chose to establish a primary care practice, but lent his Gastroenterology expertise to Freedmens Hospital as a volunteer physician in the Gastroenterology clinic. It was there that I met him and when I expressed my interest in Gastroenterology, he encouraged me and recommended me to the institution in which he had trained, The University Hospitals of Cleveland of Case Western Reserve University, and where he had left a great impression. After my return to the Howard University College of Medicine, he continued to support the Gastroenterology Division which we were building, through practical advice and patient referrals. He remained ever faithful to Howard University, as he frequently attended the twice yearly luncheons of the group "Howard Men of the 50s and 60s". He will be sorely missed, very sincere condolences to his family

Dr Dibble was a really nice, smart, compassionate and empathetic man. I've actuall known him since I was a 2nd grade child because June & my big cousin Tawana were friends. I hung out with them as a child. When I became a grown woman he was my grandmother Mary Jane Wise's Dr. My mother (Bernadette Tolson) & I took her to many appointments with him and his bedside manner was above reproach. When I retired from the US AirForce in 2013 I was trying to get him as my Dr because he was like family to me ~ but he was no longer taking new patients. I am thankful to have known him and his daughters. I know he is with my mother & grandmother and all the others gone b4 him at peace with himself and still watching over his family from above. Be strong and rest assured that Dr Dibble is in a place of no confusion, lots of love and self awareness & most of all No More Pain. My sincere condolences to his family, friends, co-workers, colleagues, and associates,

Love, Hugs & Prayers

We have really lost a great physician, a towering figure in the medical community and a legend in Washington, D.C. His deep concern and care for his patients was the subject of wonder and appreciation in many of our settings. One oft shared joke was if you went in for a physical take the rest of the day off, you'll need it to recover. It was a total experience!! Missed an appointment, expect a personal call from him early in the am reminding you of your next day appointment at 7:30 am and he was not joking. His follow ups evidenced a genuine concern for your well being. He loved his medicine and how he could use it for his patients' benefit. Its been widely known he was the doctors' doctor, he was much more than that, he was really YOUR DOCTOR. A job well done, a life well lived. God bless.
