Robert Dickson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Martin Funeral Home - Clinton on Jan. 30, 2026.
Obituary of Robert "Bob" G. Dickson

Robert "Bob" G. Dickson, 78, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, Pennsylvania, surrounded by the love of his wife and daughters. He was born on December 16, 1947, in Scranton, PA, and raised in Califon, NJ.

Bob spent many years working as a mechanic before transitioning to a career as an insurance adjuster. His happiest years were the ones he spent at CARS Auto Body, where the friendships he made became lifelong. The people he met there became an important part of his life, and those connections meant the world to him.

He was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, where he served honorably and earned the Bronze Star.

Bob is remembered by all who knew him as kind, endlessly helpful, and full of dry wit. With a mischievous twinkle in his eye and a bottomless trove of dad jokes, he could bring comfort and laughter into any moment. He was the person everyone called when something needed fixing - cars, appliances, and even, on one memorable day, a pair of pantyhose. Whatever the problem, Bob always had a solution.

To his daughters, he was the man who showed up for everything. From Sunday morning breakfasts to school events, from prom dress shopping to carrying them through the loss of their mother, Bob was their rock. He was the heart of his family.

Bob loved cruising on his Harley or in his Corvette, especially when the ride included his wife, Sheila. To her he was her Bobby. Together they shared a deep love of music and spent many joyful years attending concerts and performances. His favorite moments were the simple ones spent with his wife, children, and those he loved most.

After a long and difficult battle, Bob passed peacefully. His final days were filled with tears, laughter, stories, and above all, love.

Bob is survived by his wife, Sheila Yochum; his daughters, Caitlin Dickson and her partner Jason Haller, and Christi Dickson; his stepsons, Daniel Yochum and his partner Lena, and Justin Kemmerer; and his sisters, Sue Peschel and her husband Emil, and Lyndell Cronce and her husband Jim. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vivian Carpenter Dickson and Delmar Dickson, and by his sister Denise Dickson Buchan, and her husband Chris Buchan.

Bob will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his humor, his warmth, and the unwavering love he gave so generously.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, February 6 th from 4:00 until 7:00PM with words of remembrance being offered at 6:30 PM. Cremation will follow privately. All services will be held at Martin Funeral Home, located at 1761 Route 31, Clinton NJ 08809. To send condolences to the family please visit www.martinfh.com
