Robert Ernest “Bobby” Dobson, 85, of Sugar Valley, Georgia, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024. He was born on November 23, 1939, to the late Robert Ernest Dobson Sr. and Irene Morgan Dobson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Mae Dobson; sister, Linda Dobson Bearden; and sister-in-law, Monda Dobson.
He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, a faithful member and Deacon of Sugar Valley Baptist Church.
Robert is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Beverly and James Benson, Maryann Hardin; son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Chellie Dobson; grandchildren, Emily Lockard (Daiton Villa), Magan VanDyke (Brian), Sara Jones (Keith), Austin Hardin, Will Hardin, Jordan Carter, Cassie Cochran (Neal), Debbie Campbell (Drew); great-grandchildren, Owen VanDyke, Chase Jones, Cason Carter, Cade Carter, Raelynn Cochran, Cole Cochran, Aubree Campbell, Davis Campbell, and Caroline Campbell; brothers and sister-in-law, Michael Dobson, Gary Dobson, Timmy Dobson (Beverly); and sister, Susan Callahan.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 23, 2024, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Sugar Valley Baptist Church.
The funeral service will follow on Monday, December 23, 2024, at 2:00 PM from Sugar Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Mitch Phillips, Rev. Barry Brock, and Rev. Shawn Nation officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are Brian VanDyke, Daiton Villa, Keith Jones, James “Bubba” Benson, Austin Hardin, Anthony Dobson, and Owen VanDyke. Honorary pallbearers are Bud Nation, Will Hardin, Bobby Shirley, Daniel Nation, Chuck Brock, and Wendall Gordy.
