Robert J. Doyle

Groton- Robert J. Doyle, 80 passed away on January 31, 2026 at the WW Backus Hospital, Norwich.

Robert was born June 7, 1945 in New London the son of the late Dennis and Beatrice A. Pearson Doyle.

He grew up in "Hodges Square" of New London, attended Winthrop School, Buckley Jr. High School, and graduated from the New London High School.

Robert attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and was an altar server. He was a firefighter and E.M.T at Thomas Hose Fire Co in New London and was an Executive Board Member of Goshen Fire Co. in Waterford.

Robert served his country, serving in the United States Army and the CT National Guard during the Vietnam era.

He worked at Bradlees for 30 years and was the store manager for the last 14 of those years. He later worked at Grossman Lumber in Groton and the Hilton in Mystic. He loved carpentry, parachuting, playing cards and riding his motorcycle. He was also a Girl Scout leader with his three daughters in Waterford.

He is survived by his wife Susana C. Doyle, his 3 daughters; Christine, Michele and Tammy. His grandchildren Emily, Jimmy, Kaitlyn, Jasmin and Tanya. Great Grandchildren Jayce, Alesha, Evian, Lillyanna, Farrahlyn, Elsie, Luke and Elijah and his brother Dennis. He was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Thomas and Michael, a sister Gail and a granddaughter Ashley.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday February 10, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Groton Heights Baptist Church 72 Broad Street Groton. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday February 9, 2026 from 6 to 8 PM at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home 12 Ocean Avenue New London.
