With a twinkle in his eye and a quip on his lips, Lee Doyle departed this world on January 28, 2026. Born in
Lehi, UT, on June 27, 1938, to James and Margie Doyle, Lee was as Utahn as fry sauce and green Jell-O. He was a man who loved his wife and family fiercely, almost as much as he loved a good Dutch oven stew. He was known for his ability to connect with everyone through humor, always making those around him comfortable. His outgoing nature meant he made friends easily, and his absence will leave a void in the hearts of all who knew him.
A man of many talents, Lee was a dedicated industrial engineer, a job he tackled with the same gusto he used to hunt deer or reel in a trout. When he wasn't working for the Department of Defense he could often be found coaching little league football and basketball, or leading Boy Scouts on adventures. Lee loved all kids with special needs. He devoted his time talent and treasure to Special Olympics, the handicap mutual and many other special needs programs. Lee was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints serving as a High Priest, in the Elders Quorum presidency, and as a missionary. As the good book says, "Wherefore, be not weary in well-doing, for ye are laying the foundation of a great work. And out of small things proceedeth that which is great." (Doctrine and Covenants 64:33) Lee took this to heart, and his great work was evident in all he did.
Lee leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter in his children, Heidi, Kelly and husband David, Dale and wife Susie. Lee has 7 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren. His spirit lives on in the funny stories they tell, the wood carvings they display, and the dutch oven recipes they continue to perfect. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Margie, and his grandson, Jason. Special thanks go out to Amy and Robin with Independence Hospice, and to Jenny with the Veterans Administration Hospice team for their devoted care.
