This afternoon, I learned of the passing of my Uncle Bob. There are so many memories with him in them that its hard to discern the time periods of when they end. My dad, Uncle Bob and Uncle Greg Keller (both Uncles are honorary and well deserve the titles) use to wrestle my brother and I in our living room when we were toddlers, ages 2 & 4. Needless to say, it was an uneven fight and they chose their opponents well.
Vietnam had just ended. The period "before the 80's" was just beginning. Steppenwolf and Deep Purple were blasting though the Panasonic Stereo in the room and while defeated at wrestling, Shane and I would watch them play pool and reveled at the music. Which to no surprise, helped shape my life.
My brother and I remember those times vividly. Some of the best of our lives.
Later on, there were the backyard pool parties at Dad's house and Uncle Bob seemed to always be there and we got to watch Becky grow into her teens.
I would NEVER trade one of those memories for anyone else's. You had to be there. To experience Uncle Bob at his best and with that incredible sense of humor he seemed to always summon upon arrival.
To "Aunt Sue": I'm forever and always at a loss for words at times like these. Today, I'm literally in tears and speechless. Chrissy and I are thinking of you deeply at this moment and will continue for some time. Uncle Bob is a deep part of my history and who I am. He was one of the people that come to my memory whenever I try to describe to people "where I'm from". I can literally say to people: "Dude, I've been wrestling people 4 times my size all my life."
My God bless you and Becky, keep you, and bring you calm during this time. It's never easy but Uncle Bob was one of a kind. I laugh every time I describe him.
With love and all honor,
Michael Dean Corica (Junior to the peeps)
