Robert G. Egerer Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at MyMichigan Health-Saginaw. Age 96 years. The son of the late Clarence and Helen (Hensler) Egerer, Bob was born on March 26, 1928, in Carrollton Township. He married Norma N. Esckilsen on May 3, 1946, in Norfolk, Virginia. She predeceased him on June 24, 2009. Bob proudly served in the United States Navy in WWII aboard the U.S.S. Missouri and U.S.S. Wichita and when called back during the Korean War he was aboard the U.S.S. Bryce Canyon. He owned and operated Egerer's Super Service in Carrollton for more than half a century. Bob served on the Carrollton Twp Fire Department and was the Fire Chief for many years. He also was a member of the Saginaw County Fire Association. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing with his first mate Norma, on his many boats called the "Propbender" and his cabin in AuGres, Michigan.
Surviving to cherish his memory are three daughters, one son, and their spouses, Barbara (Robert) Corson, Cincinnati, Ohio; Sandra (Terry) Bebertz, St. Paul, Minn.; Patricia Garchow, Saginaw, with whom he spent his final years; Michael Egerer and his companion, Laura Crawford, Lapeer; six grandchildren, Douglas (Monique) Corson, Victoria (Jason) Caton, Shamiah (Jermey) Specht, Miranda (Reid) Hatfield, Tamara (Kevin) Keysor, Brett (Tabitha) Garchow; eleven great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; his brother Donald Egerer, Saginaw; several nieces; and a lifelong friend, Doris Braman. Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Darlene Egerer, a son-in-law, Martin Garchow, and a sister-in-law, Marjorie Egerer.
Funeral Service will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 13, 2024, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 808 Weiss, Saginaw, Michigan. Pastor Michael Korte will officiate. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by the United States Navy and V.F.W. Post #1859. Friends may visit at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty) where the family will be present on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Local fire departments will honor Bob with a walk thru on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
