Robert Marlin Elcess II died December 5, 2025 at his home in Louisville, Ohio. He was 59.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Marlin Elcess.
Robert was born on March 3,1966 in Gallipolis, Ohio. He graduated in 1983 from Washington High School, Washington Court House, Ohio, where he played center on the Blue Lions varsity football team in his sophomore and junior years. A resident of Louisville for more than half his life, Robert was a long-time employee of Enjoy's drive thru, and was known by many of his customers as "the beer man."
He is survived by his daughter, Julia Ann "Rockie" Elcess of Louisville; his mother, Ann Venz Whaite and stepfather, Richard Whaite of Canton; his sister, Kimberley Elcess and brother-in-law, Richard Kaskan of Gainesville, Fla.; his stepmother, Sheila Elcess of Mansfield; Jaqueline Elcess of Louisville, the mother of his only child; and her parents, Julie and Jim Hambach of Louisville.
Robert had a handful of lessons, but mostly taught himself to play guitar, preferring hard rock and punk music. He grew up listening to bands like Kiss, his favorite at the time. He attended his first outdoor concert at Legend Valley, Ohio, in 1980, headlined by Ted Nugent. He later introduced his daughter and stepfather to Green Day. More recently, Robert was a big fan of Antiques Roadshow, and enjoyed hunting treasures with his daughter at local antique shops. He was a devoted father and a loving son and brother. He will be sorely missed.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home, 303 S. Chapel St., Louisville. Visitation with family and friends will begin at 12 p,m,
