Robert "Bob" Eric Erickson, aged 72, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. Born on January 19, 1953 in Chicago to Nels and Theresa Erickson, Bob was the oldest of four brothers: Bill, Alan and David. In 1975, he married Pamela "Pam" McCarthy, his wife for 50 years. In 1984 they welcomed their first son, RJ, followed by Dan in 1990.

Bob spent the majority of his life working as an environmental engineer for manufacturing companies. These were not always easy years. Bob sacrificed much of his time and happiness to jobs he found unfulfilling. Despite Bob having lost a job he held for nearly 25 years due to a downturn in the economy, he enrolled in the two year associate degree Water Quality Program to enhance his education and employment possibilities. His final position with Quality Paint & Coatings turned out to be his most rewarding. He retired in 2017 and finally took his time to discover what could and would come next.

A few years into his retirement, Bob was able to find his true joy in life–caring for the animals at the Fond du Lac Humane Society. Bob found happiness in working diligently with the dogs at the shelter to prepare them for their new homes. From walking them to sitting in the kennels as a comforting presence, dozens of dogs knew kindness and love in their most trying days. Bob is proof that it's never too late to find your passion (though I'm not sure he'd want it said that way).

Though a stubborn man, Bob was quick-witted and good-humored. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and sharing a mango popsicle with his cat. As a long-suffering Bears fan, he longed for a return to the glory year, 1985. He unfortunately saw the Lions-Bears game which may have quickened his decline. While we shall not lay blame at the Bears' feet, it would have been nice to leave on a high note.

Bob is survived by his wife Pam; his son RJ and his wife Peg and their children Mavrick, Maggie, and Spencer; his son Dan and his wife Katie; his two brothers, Bill and Alan; along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was loved by a number of pets, both with us and with him now.

Bob's family invites friends and relatives to a time of visitation on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Zacherl Funeral Home from 2:30 PM until 3:30 PM. A memorial service will take place following the visitation at 3:30 PM.

Bob's family requests no flowers. Please donate to the Fond du Lac Humane Society so their animals can continue to receive the care they deserve.

Now, as Bob would say, what're yas still doing here? Get out of here. There must be something better you could be doing with your day.
