Robert "Bob" Erwin of Cleveland passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026. Born on November 22, 1933, in Calhoun, Tennessee to Charles and Nannie Ashley Erwin, Bob spent his adult years in Cleveland but always cherished his Calhoun roots. He loved sharing stories of his upbringing in Calhoun, a place that remained dear to him throughout his life.
He graduated from Calhoun High School in 1950. He then went on to earn an undergraduate degree from Tennessee Wesleyan College, and a master's degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Bob dedicated his career to Bradley County Schools, serving over 30 years in both classroom and administrative roles. After his retirement, he remained committed to education as a lifelong learner and mentor to others.
One of the most cherished memories from his time at Tennessee Wesleyan College was his experience playing on the college baseball team. Not only did he love playing the game, but it was at the TWC ballfield that he met the love of his life, Nancy Ann Webb. They were married on December 27, 1957.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Nannie Erwin, and his beloved son, Robert Scott Erwin.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Nancy Erwin, and his daughter Lisa (Mark) Bonadio. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Nikki (Will Lowimore) Erwin, Chris (Jennifer) Erwin, Ashley (Matt) Mead, Justin (Adria) McMahon, and Anne Marie (Jacob) Drake; five great grandchildren, Sarah Mead, Tripp Jones, Maya Lowrimore, Ava Pardue, and Ethan Erwin.
Bob was recognized for his unwavering faith, steadfast character, and the deep love he held for his family and friends. Throughout his ninety-two years, he exemplified integrity, kindness, and devotion, touching the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be held on January 5, 2026, at Companion Funeral Home in Cleveland. The family will visit and reminisce with friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The celebration of Bob's life will follow visitation at 6:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 6th at 10:00 a.m. at Calhoun First Baptist Cemetery in Calhoun, Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Farmland Community Church at 1675 Greendale Drive NE, Cleveland, TN 37323.
