Cathy Jane Barnes

Cathy Jane (Dalton) Barnes, age 59, of Delano, TN, passed away at The Hospice Center of Chattanooga, TN, February 28, 2026, due to an unexpected medical event.

Cathy was born in Arab, AL, March 11, 1966, and she was an avid "Roll Tide" fan. However, she proudly claimed Polk County, TN, as her home.

While she worked outside the home in the manufacturing industry, she was happiest at home being a wife, mother, and supportive friend. Cathy met her soul mate at an early age. Christopher "Chris" Dennis Barnes and Cathy were married for 39 years. Chris and she had two sons, Joshua and Cody Barnes that were the "twitch of her eye". She was the doting grandmother of four: Jayden Barnes, Breezie Barnes, Carson Massingill, and Emersyn Barnes.

Her hobbies included knitting and crocheting. She loved to talk on the phone and visit with friends and family. She liked researching native American and family history. She loved all things Grinch and watching horror movies, when she wasn't studying for her law degree with Judge Judy, Judge Mathis and the People's Court.

Cathy is survived by her husband of 39 years, Christopher Dennis Barnes; sons Joshua Barnes and Cody Barnes (Wife-Loren); four grandchildren Jayden Barnes, Breezie Barnes, Carson Massingill and Emersyn Barnes; brothers, Charles Floyd Dalton (Wife-Sandi) and Thomas Michael Dalton (Wife- Melissa). She will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her Father James "Jimmy" Dalton; Mother Bertha Louise Bradford Dalton; paternal grandparents Floyd E Dalton and Florence Mealer Reed; maternal grandparents, Charles M. Bradford and Bessie Long Bradford; brothers Ronald David Dalton and James Ricky Dalton; sister Connie "Peewee" Dalton Carroll.

The family will welcome friends Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Companion Funeral Home, Ridge Chapel, for a Memorial Visitation 3:00-5:00.

Cathy will be dearly missed by many and remembered forever as a devoted supporter to her family and friends.
