Robert Estabrook Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Penzien-Steele Funeral Home - In Bay City on Oct. 3, 2024.
Robert "Bob" Estabrook, of Bay City, MI, our loving father, grandfather and father-in-law was welcomed into Heaven on September 28th, 2024, one day shy of his 94th birthday. Bob was born September 29th, 1930, in Bad Axe, MI. The son of George and Hazel Estabrook (Coates). Bob graduated in 1949 from Bay City Central high school. He then attended The Ohio State University before beginning a 45 year career at Northern Supply Company in 1950, which later was acquired by Auto-Wares. Bob began his career as an auto parts counter sales associate before he was promoted to sales associate in 1961 for 10 years before being promoted to sales manager and overseeing sales and then became Vice President of Sales until his retirement in 2000. Having been such a great sales manager the Auto-Wares company created an award in his name for the best salesman of the year. While employed at Northern Supply Company Bob met the love of his life, Judy Glish and they married September 15, 1963 at St. Hyacinth church.
While in high school Bob excelled in football, baseball and basketball he earned 3 varsity letters in football, and 2 letters in baseball and basketball. In his senior year he was diagnosed with a heart murmur ending his competitive play and having to give up his basketball scholarship to Michigan State University. After high school Bob competed in paddleball, becoming a YMCA State Champion. Bob and Judy enjoyed bowling, golfing and traveling and they were long time members of the Bay City Country Club where they both participated in league and tournament play. His favorite annual destination with family and friends was Marco Island, FL. One of Bob's greatest joys was watching his daughters Tammy and Missy compete in sports. Later in life Bob was blessed with two grandsons, Tommy and Tanner, who both followed his athletic prowess. Bob and Judy traveled to many high schools and travel events to watch them play baseball, football and basketball. Bob's true legacy will be his selflessness by always putting his family first. Bob and Judy always made sure their daughters, sons in laws and grandsons were taken care of.
Bob's legacy will continue with surviving family members; children Tammy Pickelmann (Michael), Missy Szczepanski (Tom), grandchildren Tommy and Tanner Szczepanski, brother George Estabrook Jr. (Shirley), sister-in-law Diane Rinnert and sister in law Connie Estabrook and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Bob in death; his wife of 60 years, Judy Estabrook (Glish), his parents George and Hazel Estabrook, Mother and father in law Marion and Eugenia Glish, brothers Frank and Jim Estabrook, brother-in-law Doug Rinnert.
Bob's family has great gratitude for the care he received at New Hope where he also made many friends in the dining room and for the loving care he received from Transitions Hospice staff.
At the request of Bob and his family the funeral service will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be sent to Corpus Christi Church 1008 S. Wenona, Bay City, MI 48706.

With thoughts and prayers to Missy on the loss of your dad . My heart is heavy for you. I think of you all the time when we worked at Builders Square . Will never forget how sweet you were and how much you cared about the people we worked with. Sorry to see you lost your mom as well. So happy you have two sons to carry on the memories. Just thinking and praying for you and your family . Cindy
