Robert Francis "Bob" Eye, 79, passed away on November 12, 2025, in
Springfield, Missouri. Born on August 4, 1946, in Winchester, Virginia, Bob lived a life marked by service, humor, and deep devotion to his family and country.
Bob graduated from Georgetown High School in Georgetown, Delaware in 1964. Shortly thereafter, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he served with distinction for 21 years. Rising to the rank of E-6, Bob completed three tours in Vietnam and retired as a proud veteran. His unwavering dedication to his fellow servicemen was evident throughout his life. One of the highlights of his later years was participating in the Ozarks Honor Flight-a journey that allowed him to reflect on his service alongside other veterans. A true patriot at heart, Bob always honored God and country.
After retiring from the military, Bob embraced a quieter but no less colorful life. He settled into rural living with a mini farm where he raised goats for a time. From their milk, he crafted cheeses, soaps, and lotions-gifts that were often shared with friends and family. His beloved pet goats Annabelle and Sissy were part of this chapter of his life that reflected both his creativity and independent spirit.
Bob's sense of humor was legendary among those who knew him. Always ready with a joke or one of his signature "inventions," he brought laughter wherever he went. His quirky gifts became cherished mementos that sparked joy and created lasting memories at every family gathering. Stubborn yet endearing, Bob marched to the beat of his own drum-never afraid to be himself.
He had a deep love for sports entertainment and could often be found watching NFL games, NASCAR races, or WWE wrestling matches. In recent years, his constant companion was Lilly, his loyal German shepherd who rarely left his side over the past four years.
Family was central to Bob's life. He is survived by his children: Robert Eye Jr., David Bradley (Devon), Daniel Bradley, and Anna Bohannon (Ben). His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Piper, Jackob, Connor, and Andru Bohannon; Weston and Cooper Bradley.
Bob is also survived by his siblings: Sue Herr (Michael), John Eye (Katie), Cindy Mitchell, and Garnet Eye Jr. (Nansea). He held a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephew: Holly Bernhardt; Heather Herr (Brian); and Jonathan Herr (Brenda).
He was preceded in death by his parents Garnet Eye and Ruth Larimore Eye; and by his beloved wife Diane Grey Eye.
Bob's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him-his laughter echoing through memories shared at family celebrations or quiet moments on the farm. His strength of character, fierce independence, and heartfelt patriotism leave an enduring mark on those whose lives he touched.
May Robert Francis "Bob" Eye's memory bring comfort to those who knew him and serve as a reminder of a life lived fully-with courage, humor, and love.
Family will be doing memorial services at a later date.
